Medellin, Colombia. Feb 7 - 14, 2026. Week 7

Medellin, Colombia has been a Total Vibe I'm not sure what I was expecting. Prior to arriving, my opinions are largely influenced by TV, which is Drug Cartels in the streets, and personal safety threats. But I also know people who have visited and said it's great and wonderful. I don't like the dramatization of places based on USA driven TV ad movies so why not go check it out for myself. My first impressions as I left the airport were that the city is cleaner than I was expecting. At least in parts of the city. There was no garbage along the sides of the road which can be common in places with less infrastructure. The roads were in great shape, as far as the asphalt. No massive potholes, clean traffic lines and lights and flow. Just high volume. And I immediately found the Colombian people to be more attractive. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The airport in Medellin is actually quite far from the city (45 min or more). Traffic is heavy. ...

Chasing Waterfalls and Cartagena , the cruise port! Feb 22 - Feb 28, 2026 - Week 9

oh Hello! Minca One of my favorite days in Colombia was in Minca, the mountain jungle town that I stayed in for a few days. There are MANY waterfalls and places to swim in the waterfalls - So thats what I did! Waked about 10Km up and down mountain jungle roads to various water falls. They do a great job at preserving the area from tourists, there are fees to get into each one, and the money appears to at least in some capacity ensure there is not garbage left everywhere and that people are respecting the place. Oido del Mundo falls Marinka Falls I didnt feel any of them were over crowded either. Not sure if thats the time of year, or that people dont come to the area as much because of the location, but whatever the case - I had a phenomenal day. Santa Marta to Minca Colombia! Feb 15 - 21, 2026 Week 8

This week was a mix of several places. Medellin, Santa Marta and Minca Comuna 13 is this shantytown neighborhood up on the hillside in Medellin and it's known for its outside escalators and graffiti all over. Lots of Street dancers and vendors and restaurants and extremely loud music everywhere. Comuna 13 in Medellín has transformed from one of the city's most dangerous areas into a vibrant, safe tourist hub for daytime visits.
